HE Space is a successful international space company. For over 30 years, we have been supporting our customers with qualified experts in the field of engineering, science and administration. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer for Science Operations to support our customer in Spain.

Software Engineer for Science Operations

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

As a member of the Gaia Science Operations Team, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain modules, applications and tools specific to product generation framework and quality control framework;
  • Ensure timely delivery of SW releases and relative increments;
  • Perform SW architectural design as needed;
  • Prepare and maintain SW documentation;
  • Develop and maintain unit test harnesses;
  • Report on progress and problem areas;
  • Participate in the Configuration Control Boards applicable to the development and operation of the software;
  • Following-up and tracking the correction and resolution of problem reports;
  • Implement approved software enhancement requests.
Ideal Candidate: 

 

Skills & Experience

You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:

  • A university degree in a scientific or technical related subject;
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in software development;
  • Experience, knowledge and proficiency in:
    • ECSS standards for software development;
    • JDK 1.7+1.8 / RMI / Generics;
    • OO design; Distributed processing; Numerical programming in Java;
    • JUnit / Eclipse/ Ant; JDBC / DBMS interaction; Subversion;
    • Large Databases/data processing (>1TB)
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
