Requirements:

The key person will be required to cooperate with other service providers to provide the agreed service.

The Service Team is required to possess suitable education, expertise and experience to provide the agreed service. Applicable experience in the provision of Mission Analysis support by the Service Team is an advantage.

The Key person is required to have university degrees in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics or physics and the followings:

skills to apply knowledge to develop solutions for technical (mathematical and dynamical) problems in cooperation with customers and other experts

ability to define, implement, validate and operate software which applies to the above solutions (using e.g. Linux scripting languages, Fortran, C++, Matlab, Python)

good communication and presentation skills

fluent in English, both in speech and writing

interact with other service providers in Mission Analysis and other fields.

have the ability to work independently

be familiar with the ESOC environment

be familiar/experienced with Mission Analysis tasks

have experienced in dealing with external interfaces

have experienced with Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration

have the ability to multi-task efficiently; working on multiple activities; multiple missions simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary areas of responsibility for this service are for Near Earth Missions but the service provider may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for other mission types within the scope of Mission Analysis services.

The general activities to be supported by the service are (depending on the phase of the project):

Trajectory design, e.g.:

Selection of operational orbit

Orbit maintenance strategy

Lifetime analysis

End-of-life disposal

Transfer orbit design

Launcher injection orbit selection and performance analysis

Launch window analysis

Deterministic Delta-V

Navigation analysis, e.g.:

Orbit determination strategy

Orbit correction strategy

Accuracy analysis

Stochastic Delta-V

Product generation, e.g.:

Delta-V budget

Ground station coverage, communication angles and distances

Eclipses

Science merit

Mission Analysis tools development and maintenance:

Generic tools

Mission specific tools

Common Mission Analysis and Flight Dynamics tools

Project support:

Interface with project and industrial team as well as with operations and Flight Dynamics team to define Mission Analysis work to be performed and the documentation to be produced.

Participate in project reviews

Contribute to system trade-offs

Consultancy to project

Support to CDF studies

Participation in critical Flight Dynamics operations
